Important Safety Notice

When you arrive at school in the mornings you will see that our drop off loop in front of the gym is open for drop-offs. It is a one-way loop that brings you through the one-way visitor and 10-minute parking lot in front of the school. There will be absolutely no passing of vehicles in the drop off loop. You must enter and exit behind the vehicle in front of you. The loop will be open from 8:30-9:00. All other times of the day it is closed for drop off, as it is our fire lane.

Parking is to be in the large parking lot to the side of the school and on the grass area as needed. We will have staff directing traffic for the next few days. There will be staff helping students from the drop off loop throughout the year.

Please notice and abide by the marked sidewalks and crossing areas. They are here to keep you safe.

No Child Left Behind

The federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires all states, school districts, and schools to provide annual report cards to parents and communities. The report card displays statewide as well as district achievement data in the areas of reading and math for students in grades 3-8, and at the 3rd year of high school. Science achievement is reported at grade 5, 8 and at the 3rd year of high school. Report Card information can be found here.

Hermon Elementary School Is Thinking GREEN!

During the last several years, HES teachers have begun a program to reduce the amount of trash generated at our school. We are pleased that No Sort recycling has come to HES, and do our best to direct all appropriate items to those containers.

We are encouraging all students who bring juice or water to school, to use some type of refillable bottle. This is a win-win-win endeavor: your child will learn a valuable lesson (Maine State Learning Results: Science and Technology C3), you will help our school (and the planet), and you will save $$$.

BE GREEN: First REDUCE, then REUSE, then RECYCLE, and always RESPECT.
