Student Information System Data Manager Technology Specialist

    Job Goal

    The employee performs a variety of technical and computer support functions for the student information system, PowerSchool. Work involves operation of computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment. The position requires a thorough knowledge of student accounting procedures and regulations, and the ability to accurately enter data from source documents. In addition, the employee should have the capacity to effectively generate, analyze and report data, and have sound operational knowledge of the overall functionality of PowerSchool. The employee works under general supervision where goals are provided and the employee, within established guidelines and procedures, accomplishes them. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of groups including students, teachers, principals, counselors, central office staff, parents, and local governmental agencies is required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • General knowledge of computers, computer commands, peripherals, and various operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Mac OS, and Chrome OS.
    • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
    • Knowledge of attendance regulations and student accounting procedures, as outlined by the Hermon School Department

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Serves as the PowerSchool system expert for the Hermon schools by entering, summarizing, analyzing, and reviewing data for accuracy to produce standard, custom and confidential reports for the school principals and administrators
    • Administers PowerSchool User Security for the Hermon schools, coordinating with district personnel
    • Manages, generates, and distributes student demographic, scheduling, academic progress, Testing and disciplinary incidents data. Also, other data as mandated by the state or school district.
    • Maintains records of student withdrawal from school, record of reasons for student withdrawal and students’ planned destination.
    • Prepares periodic statistical reports
    • Facilitates transfer of student information between schools, including Records Requests
    • Maintains database for auto dialers that interface with student information system
    • Accesses the Internet to review and/or download student information-related materials
    • Provides information and/or training to co-workers and school staff on the use of PowerSchool and application of data produced from the system
    • Coordinates and oversees distribution of Parent Portal login information and responsible for quality assurance of parent User IDs and passwords.
    • Works with a variety of departments to accurately input, maintain, reconcile and report data to the Hermon School Department and State Department of Education.
    • Completes special projects, as assigned
    • Responsible for facilitating the enrollment process of students.

    Guidance Office Secretary/Registrar - Hermon High School

    Job Goal:
    The High School Registrar is an administrative professional whose duties include the maintenance of student records, creation of reports, general clerical work, assisting counselors with events, managing visitors coming through the office, and other duties as assigned.

    Performance Responsibilities:

    1. Maintains student records in accordance with the State's record retention requirements of the disposition of school records in accordance with the set schedule. This is to include organization and upkeep of the HHS Records Room.
    2. Maintains accurate records regarding new student information, as well as transfer students in and out of the district in a timely manner.
    3. Creates reports for State reporting through SIS program in conjunction with the State reporting tool.
    4. Creates reports for administration including failure, honor roll (to Bangor Daily News), report cards, and any other report asked of the registrar.
    5. Responsible for sending transcripts for current students as well as alumni.
    6. Assists students and families with critical paperwork including new student registrations, SSI, car insurance forms, records requests, etc.
    7. Maintains supplies. This is to include restocking and organizing. Maintains the office and its appearance to the public and students.
    8. Assists with the creation of the yearly budget, Program of Studies, Master Schedule, Student Registrations, school profile, as well as the miscellaneous composing and creating of Guidance Office needs.
    9. Prepares and sends weekly student enrollment update to RSU#87 and Hermon.
    10. Manages and maintains scholarship information for student access. In addition, create the scholarship script for Class Night and Graduation.
    11. Manages electronic calendars for the Guidance Office, to include scheduling, organizes and manages college visits to HHS, student appointments, Guidance Office events, etc.
    12. Maintains and keeps updated college, career, and student resource marketing materials available for students, as well as assisting with any visitors/events held during the school day.
    13. Organizes Parent Teacher Conferences sign up and schedule.
    14. Assists CTE coordinator with organization of data and communication regarding Bridge Academy and UTC as well as other duties as assigned. Enter grades that UTC provides quarterly.
    15. Assists counselors with the organization and administration of standardized testing.
    16. Organizes and maintains Community Service hours.
    17. Other duties as assigned by the counselors and administration.

    Terms of Employment:
    Ten-month work year with an additional 10 additional days at the end of the school year and 15 additional days prior to the start of the school year. Salary and work year to be established by the School Committee.

    Evaluation:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Committee's policy on Evaluation of the administrative assistant by the Director of Guidance.

    The Hermon School Department is seeking a High School Resource Room Special Education Teacher who meets the following:
