HSD Updates 2.5.21

I hope that you are all well.  It is hard to believe that in just one week it will be February break.  Thanks for your continued support and patience as we work through a pandemic.  It is greatly appreciated.   Here are some updates:

CDC Changes regarding presumed positive cases and quarantining HERE

Hermon will be following these guidelines which have been adjusted over time as we better learn how to mitigate spread.

Vaccinations:  This educational video presentation from the state DOE nurse consultant is VERY GOOD and worth the watch.   HERE

Please contact your school nurse if you have questions.

School Schedule:   Our planning committee will be meeting on the Monday after February break to discuss our model.  We will discuss what is working well, the challenges, current and spring options, and any new state guidelines.  Our planning team will communicate our meeting results with the school committee.

We hear from parents and students who are satisfied and not satisfied with our hybrid model.

If you have questions, creative ideas, and or constructive feedback, please send it to me and I will bring this feedback to our committee.   HERE or jim.chasse@schools.hermon.net

•3 weeks, 300 kids

We have had over 300 students attend the Ski for Free program or the Elementary After School Ski program.  We learned that 18 students who had never skied before learned to ski!  This is excellent!  Please consider taking up this hobby located in your backyard!  Thank you, Hermon Mt for all of your hard work with our students, greatly appreciated.

•Athletics

While still not everything we would like, it is so nice to see students practicing and competing.  Our state social gathering rules would still prohibit fans but our NFHS Sports Network camera does a great job following the game.

It's the best thing on TV.  Tune in and support your HAWKS!

• Communication:  Are you "in the loop?"  Please consider accessing each school's website, fbook page, parent advisory counsels, school committee minutes, school newsletters, athletic sites, streamed and on-demand events, ...

Go Hawks!  Have a nice weekend.
